Firemaking

Introduction

Firemaking Icon

The Firemaking skill has application across RuneScape in many skills and quests. It's based around the idea of setting fire to logs for various uses however the most popular can be bonfires, and creating fires to cook food on. Before the release of Bonfires in May 2012 firemakers often left large trains of ashes around various banks. This is still done today at events such as "Burn Down Draynor" for fun rather than a skilling purpose.

Lighting items

Lighting logs is the primary aim of the skill, as such there are many types of logs and burnable items.

There are a few different types of logs, these range from standard logs which you can cut down, to those that require some treatment to them before they meet the purpose they are designed for.

Standard Logs

Standard logs are logs that can be cut down from a tree and set alight there and then.

Bonfires

Bonfires were introduced on the 19th May 2012 and were widely accepted as a better way of firemaking. They lowered the cost of the skill whilst removing the move click intensive side. If that wasn't enough to convert people the free gifts from the spirits which included charms and other random items.

Experience boost

The experience you gain when doing bonfires is based upon standard firemaking however you gain a certain percent more experience based on how many people are doing firemaking with you, because of this its best to skill in a group of 5 or more to gain maximum experience.
