Introduction

To start the quest, speak to Sylas located north of the Dark Wizards Tower near Falador, south of the wheat field. He will attempt to sell you some magic beans in return for two items he desires, a Griffin's feather, and a Dwarvern Helmet.

Grimgnash the Griffin

Walk onto White Wolf mountain, and follow the Eastern-most path North until coming to a fenced path going West. Walk up it and continue North until you come to Grimgnash the Griffin sitting in a nest.

Talk to him, and after convincing him you are not willing to be eaten, tell him the following when you have the options:

  • I've heard you are a great and mighty Griffin!
  • There once was a graveyard filled with undead.
  • There lived a skeleton named Skullrot
  • Skullrot was insane!
  • Skullrot hungrily grabbed the gnome's hair
  • Started to strangle the poor gnome.
  • (you can choose any answer here)

After finishing the story, Grimgnash will fall asleep, allowing you to obtain the feather.

The Dwarf and the Princess

Head to the plateau of land to the West of Ice Mountain, on the same path you would take to reach the mind altar. When you reach a tower, climb over the wall on the east side into the back courtyard. Talk into the drainpipe up the wall, to Rupert, the dwarf in the top room of the tower.

After offering to find a way to get him out, climb back over the wall and speak to the princess, Miazrqa, around the front. Return to the drainpipe, and tell Rupert to let down his beard for you to climb up.

Climb into the room at the top and Rupert will explain what happened to him, and about Miazrqa's evil "second cousin, twice removed", the witch who lives in Taverly, and how he was caught while looking round her house. Climb back down and speak to Miazrqa. Offer to retrieve her pendant from the Witch's house. You can either get a key off her, or take one from under the pot next to the door.

Witches House

Travel to the Witch's house and climb down into the basement. Make sure you're wearing non-metallic gloves (Recipe for Disaster gloves will not work) and open the metal gate. No gloves, or metallic ones will make the gate deal up to 160 damage. Search the music stand for the musical score, and go over to the piano.

Read the score, and click to play the piano. Press the keys in the order marked on the image below, and the compartment at the top of the piano will open, giving you a 'To-d list, 2 ogleroots, and a Shrinking potion recipe.

Read both notes. Mix a tarromin into a vial of water, and then add the ogleroot to the Tarromin (unf) vial, to get a shrinking potion. Walk upstairs and move to the southern most room of the house, with a mouse hole. Make sure you have food with you, or prayer points and protect/deflect melee ready, as the next area is filled with giant aggressive level 95 mice. Drink the potion, and you will shrink and walk through the mouse hole.

You will find yourself in the mouse hole, with giant mice (only giant because you're so small). You do not have to kill these, so you can just ignore them. Run north and climb up the nails on the wall, then follow the passage south then west, and climb the nails on the northern side. Climb up the nails immediately next to your position, then follow the passage north and climb down the nails there. Run north, climb up the nails, and you will be in the room with the pendant. Take it, and either teleport out or retrace your steps back outside.

Go back to the tower and give the pendant to Miazrqa, who will set Rupert free. As a reward, he will give you his helmet.

Obtaining the Beans

Return with the Griffin feather and the Dwarvern helmet, to Sylas, and give him the two items. He will inform you of the magic nature of the beans, and the giant that lives up in the clouds, guarding a 'golden goblin' (along with the story behind the goblin).

Using a seed dibber, plant the bean seed in the farming patch on the coast of the lake on the South side of Taverly. Water it, and a massive beanstalk will sprout out the ground.

The Giant

Prepare to fight a level 138 giant. His level is misleading, as like other giants, he has high hitpoints and hits hard, but also has the ability to disable your prayer, and drain a large amount of prayer points. As such, 1-2 prayer potions are advised, along with 5-10 monkfish or better. He can also taunt you, forcing you to run towards him if you are safespotting, and can force you to run away in fear.

When ready, climb the beanstalk and attack the giant, Glod (level 138). Make sure you protect melee, and are ready to re-activate prayers and restore prayer points at any point. If you take damage, heal immediately, as he can hit over 150 in multiple attacks.

When dead, he will drop several items, along with the golden goblin. Climb back down the beanstalk and hand the goblin to Sylas, who will tell you to chop the beanstalk down. Mix your remaining ogleroot with another unfinished tarromin potion, and use it on the stalk to shrink it, allowing you to chop at it.

Return and talk once more to Sylas, who will explain it was merely a potion in the helmet he wanted, and will give you it as a reward.
