Talk to King Narnode Shareen who can be found inside the Grand Tree at the Tree Gnome Stronghold, west of Ardougne.

He will inform you that the Grand Tree is dying, and requests your help. He will give you a bark sample and translation book and refer you to Hazelemere to find out more.

Visiting Hazelemere

Hazelemere lives on a island east of Yanille, across several bridges. There are also some level 44 Jungle Spiders that inhabit the island. For those that have access to the Fairy Rings, use the code CLS to arrive behind his house.

After speaking to him, you will find that you cannot understand anything he says, however give him the bark sample and get him to write down what he is trying to say. Hazelemere will then give you a scroll which you can translate using the book that reads: "A man came to me with the king's seal, I gave the man Daconia Rocks, and Daconia Rocks will kill the tree."

Bad news indeed. Take this information back to King Narnode Shareen. He will ask you if you were able to find Hazelemere, to which you should reply Yes, I think I did and then choose the following options:

  • None of the above x2
  • A man came to me with the kings seal.
  • I gave the man Daconia Rocks.
  • Daconia rocks will kill the tree!

Daconia Rocks

Ask the king what Daconia rocks are and he will explain the rocks were created as a safeguard to destroy the tree if it ever became uncontrollable, and will then ask you to locate the rocks. He will also ask you to go and warn the Chief Tree Guardian, Glough about what has happened.

Glough lives in a tree to the right of the Grand Tree. You will interrupt him eating some Worm Holes when you enter, and he will not be best pleased. Inform him about the Daconia rock situation, and he will blame it on the humans, and send you away saying your help isn't needed and he will deal with it.

Head back to the King and ask him if there are any updates, and he will tell you that Glough found a human sneaking around with the rocks.

This update will arouse your suspicion, so climb to the top of the Grand Tree and talk to the prisoner Charlie. Ask him what his intentions were, and you will learn that Glough framed him!

Return back to Glough's tree, and search the cupboard to find his journal. You will learn he has a deep hatred of the human race. Speak to Glough and he will be outraged and throw you into jail.

Karamja Shipyard

Talk to Charlie who will tell you to talk to the talk to the South Karamja Shipyard headman to get to the bottom of this. He will tell you the password: Ka-Lu-Min.

Thankfully, the King will release you from jail, apologising for Glough's behaviour. However, he will tell you that Glough has set gaurds to prevent you leaving, and the King will tell you to use the glider service to leave.

Speak to the Gnome Pilot, who will take you to Karajma. Head east to arrive near the Shipyard. Attempt to open the gate and the worker will stop you and ask what your business is here. Tell him that Glough sent me, and he will ask for the password. Choose Ka Lu Min on the three options and he will let you inside.

Head to the south of the area and speak to the Foreman, taking care not to attack him. After a little conversation, he will invite you into his office and ask you a few questions to check you're not an imposter. Reply with the following:

  • Sadly, his wife is no longer with us.
  • He loves worm holes.
  • Anita.

Satisfied with your answers, the Foreman will inform you of Gloughs plan to invade Port Sarim with 30 battleships! He will then you give you a lumber order to give to Glough. If you answer the questions incorrectly, just kill the Foreman who will drop the lumber order instead.

Now return to the Tree Gnome Stronghold. You will be refused entry however,so speak to the gnome Femi nearby who will smuggle you into the stronghold with her cart.

Arresting Glough

Go speak to King Narnode Shareen, however he will be sceptical of your accusations against Glough, and will ask you to leave. Climb up to the jail and speak to Charlie again, and he will inform you that a key to Glough's chest can be found in his girlfriends house. Anita lives northwest of the Grand Tree, in the second tree west of the swamp.

Speak to her, and she will give you the key. Return back to Glough's house, and open the chest to find his invasion plans. Take these back to King Narnode Shareen, however he will say that there is no evidence to show Glough wrote the plans. He will then tell you that he had Glough's house searched and all that was found were some strange twigs that he will give to you.

Note: Fight with level 172 Black Demon ahead.

Return to Glough's tree, and climb up the tree in the east corner. Use the twigs that the King gave you to spell TUZO (meaning open).

Climb down the trapdoor, and Glough will say he's had enough of you, and will then set a Black Demon on you. You will now have to defeat the Demon, however there is a safe spot just to the south.

After dealing with the Demon, Glough like the coward he is, will run away. Head west until you come to a big clearing with the King. Inform him about what has just happened, and the King will finally come to his senses about Glough. He will then ask you to find the final Daconia rock. Search the various tree roots until you find it, and return it to the king, thus restoring the Grand Tree to its rightful glory.
