Slayer
This skill is a member's only skill although free players may train this skill to level 5.

Introduction

Slayer is a members-only skill that was released on 26th of January 2005. The skill allows you to battle monsters which may require different methods to kill them. To gain experience in the skill, you are required to speak to a Slayer Master who can assign you a set number of kills to a specific monster. As well as Slayer experience, you will also gain the corresponding combat experience for every kill. As you advance in the skill, you will be able to access more slayer monsters which are stronger, grant more experience and have better drop tables.

Equipment

Within Slayer there are various pieces of equipment that are required to kill a monster or aid you in some other way. The equipment have different Slayer level requirements that range from 1-75. Normally you will only find the equipment of use when you achieve the level required to use them as they are normally in line with a specific monster. The equipment can be bought from any Slayer Master with coins. Below you will find a table containing different Slayer equipment:

As you advance in the skill, you will have more Slayer Masters become available to you who will assign you more difficult and different Slayer monsters. Assignments

Assignments are given to players when they request an assignment from one of several Slayer Masters. The assignment will order you to kill a specific amount of monster. The difficulty of the assignment will depend on your Combat and Slayer level, and it will never expire unless cancelled by going to Turael/Spria or by using Slayer Points obtained from completing assignments. After you have killed the ordered amount, you will have to return to a Slayer Master for a new assignment. These monsters can vary from mere goblins to fearsome dragons and so many more creatures from the depths of the darkest dungeons.

Using slayer points, you can cancel and even block undesired tasks. This costs 30 Slayer points to skip the assignment and 100 Slayer points to skip and permanently block your current assignment from being assigned again. One thing to note is that you may only block a total of 7 slayer assignments and to unlock your first slot to block assignments you must have 50 Quest points; for the second slot to block assignments you must have 100 Quest points and so on up to 350 Quest points required to unlock the final seventh slot. You are still able to remove these assignments off the blocked list should you wish to be assigned them again in the future, however, you won't be refunded any points that were spent on blocking the assignment in the first place.

Monsters

Certain monsters in Gielinor may only be slain if you have the sufficient Slayer level. All of these creatures may also be set as slayer assignments and below is a table containing the monsters that require Slayer to be able to attack them:

The longer versions of a contract offer significantly more experience and coins per monster killed in comparison to the shorter versions. The experience given will be 20% more than that of the normal Slayer experience that is given for a slaying a monster.

Once you have completed your contract assignment, you will be notified in the chatbox in red text that you have completed your contract and your reward may be collected from Marcus. When speaking to Marcus about rewards, he will offer you the choice to take either a book of Attack, Strength, Defence, Magic, Range or Constitution experience, or you can take the coin reward.

Soul Reaper

Through the portal north of the Draynor Village Lodestone Death can assign you Soul Reaper assignments that work in the same way as Slayer Tasks but he assigns bosses instead of slayer monsters. You can only ask Death for one Soul Reaper assignment a day, but you can reroll your assignment at most five times a day, every time you reroll your assignment you don't get as much Soul Reaper points as you would normally get if you complete it, the Slayer XP reward doesn't change. Every day you get a fresh set of five rerolls, but you can only use them if you either don't have a Soul Reaper assignment or you reset your current Soul Reaper assignment by talking to Death.

Death can assign you any boss, but you can choose to allow group bosses (they are Barrows: Rise of the Six, Kalphite King, Nex, Vorago) and/or double the quantity of bosses he can assign you per assignment. If you choose to double the quantity of bosses per assignment OR allow Death to assign you group bosses, you gain 125% of Soul Reaper points instead of 100% per assignment. If you choose to double the quantity of bosses per assignment AND allow Death to assign you group bosses, you get 150% of Soul Reaper points instead of 100% or 125% per assignment.

Skill Mastery

Once you have reached level 99 in Slayer, you can head to the Ancient caverns where you can then buy a Slayer Skillcape and hood from Kuradal for 99,000 coins. The cape can be used to temporary boost your Slayer level to 100 by right-clicking and selecting boost in the Equipment interface. The cape and hood are members' items, however they can still be used to perform their unique emote if worn in free-to-play worlds.

If Slayer is your first skill to reach level 99 then you will be rewarded the Slayer cape. However, if you have one or more skills already at level 99 then you will be awarded the Slayer cape (t). If you have the untrimmed version of the cape and achieve level 99 in other skill, the cape will become trimmed automatically. The only way to keep a copy of the untrimmed cape is to use the keepsake box from Solomon's General Store.
