Boy has this year flown by so far. 2014 has got to be my favorite year of existence so far - I've made some of the closest friendships ever with people, University studies have been going extremely well, and I've managed to have one of my productive years so far on RuneScape.
After realising yesterday that we're now officially half way through 2014, I thought what better to do than write a progress update. So, without any further waiting, here we go!
We start out the year with January - at this stage I was still at home for summer, and whilst under the parents' roof, I was limited to the time I was allowed on the internet. I spent what time I had on RuneScape training Slayer and doing the occasional bit of Dungeoneering as I worked towards 120. I still hadn't decided whether or not I actually wanted to go for a Completionist Cape, and was quite happy just plundering along with Slayer.
January also saw me make an attempt at my first seasonal hiscore, Fun Weapon Damage against K'ril, which I ended up coming 2nd place in. The biggest milestone from January was achieving 500M total experience on the 11th, as well as going from 110 to 112 Dungeoneering.
February; summer ended and it was time to leave home again and return back to my second year of University study. Semester didn't start till the 24th, so I took advantage of the 3 commitment-free weeks to work on Dungeoneering & ultimately Completionist Cape.
Not surprisingly, Dungeoneering made up my largest gains as I levelled from 112 to 120, bringing me to the maximum total level of 2595 on the 22nd. Along the way I set some Dungeoneering record gains, with 17,485,290 XP in a single day on the 21st of February and 50,738,253 XP over the week from the 17th to the 24th of February.
Having finished up with skills, all I had left to do was quests and task sets for Completionist Cape. I spent just over a week questing, and achieved my first ever quest cape on the 27th of February.
March - University was just under way and I was all ready to achieve one of my largest goals in RuneScape ever, and make another attempt at a seasonal hiscore.
On the 2nd of March 2014, I achieved my first ever Completionist Cape. It had been such a long road, approaching 7 years long, but I had finally done it. I honestly never would have seen myself with a Completionist cape this time last year, but hey, strange things happened that lead to all of this. It's only been through the overwhelming support of all of my friends over the many years and a bit of internal motivation that I've been able to achieve such an amazing goal, and sharing these moments with you guys has been the absolute bestest.
The rest of March was mainly made up of Thieving, combat and Firemaking gains. I also passed the 700M total experience mark on the 17th of March. As the month drew to and end I began making an attempt at the latest seasonal hiscore; Slayer tower kills.
April - having achieved Completionist Cape, it was time to start working on some other goals. First off, an attempt at the Slayer Tower Kills Seasonal HiScore and to start working towards Trimmed Completionist Cape (a goal I've since given up completely).
Firemaking, combat and Slayer made up the majority of my experience gains for April, closely followed by Farming as I began getting heavily involved in warbands. During April I also crossed off a large number of trimmed completionist requirements, starting off with some of the smaller ones and moving onto such things as Champion Scrolls.
Towards the end of April as 120 capes were announced, I moved to accumulating bonus Firemaking experience as I prepared to start working on 120 Firemaking.
May was the month of Firemaking, warbands and Slayer - oh, and let's not forget exams.
Quite obviously, the majority of my experience gains in May came from Firemaking. I finished 120 Firemaking on the 15th of May and quickly moved onto Slayer and Cooking. Taking advantage of the May Roadtrip weekends, I also managed to get my 2nd set of Black Ibis in preparation for working on 120 Thieving later in the year.
June - the last month of my half-year update and my 2nd largest month in terms of experience gains for the year so far. Exams were over and I was into a 3 week long mid-year break!
Having finished off 120 Firemaking in May, I shifted my attention to working on 120 Cooking. The daily gains in Farming from warbands continued, and around this time I started getting involved in scouting for the friends chat I was part of. The other major gains for June were in Thieving and Slayer as I pushed for obtaining 1B total experience as quickly as possible.
So far this year I've almost doubled my entire total experience; it's by far the most productive year for RuneScape yet. I'm hoping that I'll be hitting 1B total experience this month (July), and who knows, I might even try push for 1.5B by the end of the year.
