TokHaar Fight Cauldron

Introduction

The TokHaar thirst for battle and are always looking to hone their combat skills against each other. Having fought against them and won during The Brink of Extinction, they are anxious to do battle with you once more, further allowing them to refine their skills. To this end, they have opened a chamber called the Fight Cauldron, and invite only the strongest of warriors inside for a vicious battle for survival.

Inside the Fight Cauldron, you'll have to battle never-ending waves of TokHaar creatures. By killing the creatures that challenge you, you will earn Obsidian shards, which can be used to help smith the ever-powerful Obsidian armours.

This is a safe activity. Any items you have will be kept upon death. However, any lost arrows or runes used within the Cauldron will not be refunded.

Requirements

You must have completed The Brink of Extinction to gain access to the Fight Cauldron.

It is recommended to have a high combat level, with acces to high level Prayers or Curses, as well as high level armour, supplies and weaponry if you wish to survive for an extended period of time. Prayer restoring potions are a must and the ability to use Overloads is also recommended.

As many of the creatures you will face have a weakness to certain types of damage, it is highly advised that you bring armour and weapons from all ends of the Combat Triangle. Hybrid armour can be quite useful here.

Location

The Fight Cauldron is located in the eastern portion of the TzHaar City. From the city entrance, head north towards the Main Plaza and take the south-eastern tunnel. Follow it around to the north as it curves around and the Cauldron entrance is located at the end of the tunnel.

After completing The Brink of Extinction, you will be able to use the TokKul-Zo to teleport directly to the Cauldron entrance.

Just outside the entrance to the Cauldron, there is a banker where you can gear up for the fight ahead.

Into The Cauldron

There are infinite waves of attacks within the Fight Cauldron which will test your ability to withstand a constant, unrelenting attack. These waves do not get harder as they go on, unlike in the Fight Caves and Fight Kiln.

The creatures within the Cauldron are resistant to damage if you attack them with a combat style they are not weak to. For example, if you attack a mage with melee or magic, the damage you deal to them will be greatly reduced.

As during the quest and at regular intervals, some of the Cauldron grid squares will begin to glow with heat. Avoid standing on the glowing squares at all cost, as you will take massive damage from the heat. Also, sacred lava will pour into the Cauldron from the mouth located at the Northern part of the arena. As with the hot floor, avoid this grid square at all cost, as you will take a large amount of damage.

Monsters

The Fight Cauldron will spawn an infinite number of waves of various TokHaar monsters, with a brief pause between each wave. These monsters are stronger versions of the TokHaar creatures you encounter within the Fight Kiln. Below is a listing of all 8 monsters you can possibly encounter.

Rewards

All TokHaar creatures killed within the Fight Cauldron will leave behind Obsidian shards, increasing in number according to their combat difficulty. The harder an enemy is to kill, the more shards it will drop upon death. Obsidian shards are used to make Obsidian bars, which can then be smithed into Obsidian armour. To smelt the shards into bars, you will need to have at least Level 80 Smithing. Below is a table detailing each piece of Obsidian armour you can smith. The armour degrades with each hit it absorbs.

Just inside the entrance to the Fight Cauldron, there is a coffer where players may donate TokKul. Doing so will grant a temporary increase to the damage reduction of the Obsidian armour while fighting against TzHaar and TokHaar creatures. Donating 15k TokKul would buy a 10% increase in the damage reduction, bringing the total reduction buff for the full set to 26% without the kiteshield or 30% with the kiteshield. This boost will last for 20 minutes. If you donate 90k TokKul, this temporary 10% extra damage reduction buff would last its maximum length of time - 1 hour.

Aside from the obsidian armour and the donation coffer, you are also awarded full combat experience for defeating the TokHaar creatures inside the Cauldron.
